Most PNG coffees hail from the Highlands in the center of the “mainland.” While wealthier estates have built names for themselves, most production is from true smallholders – extremely small plots with low yields per tree. Our strategy here is focused on finding the right partners to overcome the culturally and geographically stratified landscape and group together disconnected villages and farmers. Lot separation and training at the “cluster” level (1 or 2 family clans per cluster) is our focus for quality control and to grow community improvements in housing and household income.
